| Read Our Blog Read Our Blog Blog Jumping into the job at 71 Lloret De Mar Pelayo May 31, 2019 Senior Services zero Robin Tilley, a 71-12 months-old widow, was unemployed but she refused to stay residence. “You sit at house, you die. I’m not doing this. I’m going to do one thing,” says Robin. She reached out to National Able Network in Iowa and registered for the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). She worked intently with Kristi Erritt, a Client Services Representative, to find one of the best position for Robin and her skill set. They agreed on a position at New Opportunities, a non-profit organization, in Sac City, Iowa. Robin diligently sifted through donations, organized the meals pantry, and far more! She did such a beautiful job that she acquired a Governor Volunteer Award in 2017! Soon thereafter, Robin was provided and accepted employment at New Opportunities. Robin credits Kristi for listening to her and helping her overcome challenges. “She pushed me and stored me motivated,” s tated Robin. “I enjoy this job. It’s the grandest thing. Before this job, I was shy and withdrawn and terrified of individuals…It’s helped me financially and now I simply say what I think, I even have much more confidence,” stated Robin, “I suppose it’s great. I know I’m serving to people in the neighborhood and once they come in for the meals pantry or they want clothes â€" I really feel like I’m being useful. It makes me feel like I’m accomplishing something.” Regarding recommending this system to her fellow older Americans, Robin stated: “Jump in with both toes and go for it!” Your email tackle is not going to be printed.
